What to Pack for Your Trip

What to Know Before Traveling

If you will be staying in a hotel or hostel and traveling to your destination by train, many important items won’t need to be packed. Your accommodation will usually provide:

  • Bedding (sheet, pillowcase, duvet cover, blankets);
  • Clean towels for face, body, and sometimes feet (separate for each guest);
  • Kettle and dishes for food preparation and serving (plates, cups, and cutlery);
  • Hairdryer for drying hair;
  • Cosmetic kit (soap, shampoo, shower gel, toothpaste, and toothbrush);
  • Tea, coffee, sugar, and salt — typically available in shared kitchens.

What to Pack: Checklist

Exclude items provided by the accommodation and add the following:

  • Documents and tickets (preferably scan them and send to your email);
  • Cash and payment cards (memorize passwords, don’t write them down);
  • Personal hygiene products, comb, and wet wipes;
  • Change of underwear and socks;
  • Clothing (2-3 sets), shoes, and warm clothes (depending on the season and trip duration);
  • First-aid kit with essential medicines;
  • Chargers for gadgets.

Additionally, bring headphones, an e-book, a player, or anything else to make the trip enjoyable. If traveling in summer, don’t forget sunscreen, sunglasses, and a sunhat.
