Burj-Khalifa

The Burj Khalifa skyscraper was originally conceived as the tallest building in the world. Its design height was kept in the strictest secrecy, so that in the case of planning a building of higher height, adjustments would be made to the project. The construction work took six years – every night the height of the tower increased by one or two floors. The huge stalagmite–like skyscraper is the personification of the Arab economic miracle and the main symbol of the Emirates, for the sake of the opportunity to climb to the top of which thousands of tourists from all over the world visit the country every year. Inside the tower there are residential apartments, hotel rooms, business offices, retail areas, entertainment centers, restaurants and cafes, gyms, observation decks and swimming pools. The building is serviced by 57 elevators, but only one of them is able to climb from the ground floor to the top of the skyscraper. The speed of the elevator is ten meters per second. By the way, the Arab Tower is considered one of the safest skyscrapers in the world – in the event of a fire, the high-speed elevator system will allow you to leave the building in a matter of minutes. The surrounding infrastructure is no less impressive. At the foot of the tower there is a Singing fountain, the jets of which rush into the air for 150 meters. The fountain is located in the center of a huge man-made lake. The structure is equipped with 25 color and more than 600 spotlights. The jets "dance" to Arabic motifs and masterpieces of world classical and popular music. On the 124-125 floors there is a main observation deck, the name of which can literally be translated as "on top". Here, standing at the height of the flight of airliners, you can enjoy the view of the city and the Persian Gulf from four sides. And this is not the highest point – on the 148th floor of the building (555 meters) there is another panoramic platform with an even more fascinating view of the metropolis and clouds. You can get to both sites with special tickets or with a guided tour.
